The project aims to raise awareness among local communities in Beni Mellal-Khenifra, Casablanca-Settat, Tanger-Tetouan e Marrakech-Safi regions about irregular migration issues through the implementation of an information campaign created to inform potential migrants about the multiple risks and also offer legal and safer alternatives.

Is targeted to the potential migrants, moroccans and sub-saharan citizens, for whom the migration represents a life project or which are often excluded from the official migrant’s reception services; the secondary school students, the teaching staff, and educators through the implementation of extra-curricular activities designed to develop a critical and responsible approach to migration; the category of people seeking employment, through the predisposition of training and job orientation.

The intervention provides potential migrants with correct information about the journey’s real dangers and the trafficker’s indifference regarding the migrant’s safety and wellness conditions. The information campaign will give voice to the returned migrants, whose experiences and stories will contribute to debunking false myths, and who will become protagonists of the action. Furthermore, the campaign will shed light on the legal alternatives and employment opportunities in the country of origin, besides contributing to disseminate the campaign’s key messages.

The goal is to contribute to the change of perception and vision of the irregular migration phenomenon through an information campaign aiming at raising awareness of the social context, with an emphasis on the voices of return migrants, whose stories and experiences will help to break down the myths related to irregular migration.

Funded by the European Union, the project is the result of a multiple partnership bringing together the Trade Union Institute for Development Cooperation (l’Institut Syndical de Coopération au Développement – ISCOS); the Andalusian Fund of Municipalities for International Solidarity (Fond andalou des Municipalités pour la Solidarité Internationale – FAMSI), and the National Association beyond the Borders – Morocco (l’Association Nationale Outre les Frontières – Maroc, ANOLF).
